For the past five weeks Look Closer Films has been documenting a new creative program know as Red Magic which is the brain child of both MusoMagic ( a Melbourne based music and song writing workshop created by Aria award winner Adam Thompson, “Chocolate Starfish”) and Stitched Up (a drama program created by the Red Stitch Theatre group, for teenagers aged 13 to 17 years with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.) The program itself will combine elements from both MusoMagic and Red Stitch to create a new and exciting experience for all of the kids involved.
The documentary will follow a small group of children that each have some kind of intellectual disability, as they learn to write and record their own original pop song as well as plan and star in their own music video. The program still has several weeks to go until the final screening of the music video and the documentary at the historic Astor Theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne. So far everyone involved in the program has been throughly enjoying the experience and are really excited about the fast approaching June screening, which will showcase all of the kids hard work and determination.
Look Closer Films will also be creating the song’s music video based on the ideas and concepts that have been developed by all of the kids involved in the Red Magic program.
